Acute Stress Disorder

 ACUTE STRESS DISORDER

Acute stress disorder is similar to posttraumatic stress dis-order in that the person has experienced a traumatic situ-ation but the response is more dissociative. The person has a sense that the event was unreal, believes he or she is unreal, and forgets some aspects of the event through amnesia, emotional detachment, and muddled oblivious-ness to the environment (APA, 2000).
